Below is a glimpse of what each camp session will include...

Elementary / Middle 

  • Learn about and practice safe interaction with dogs and cats
  • Have hands-on experience with an animal guest
  • Receive a behind-the-scenes tour of Vet-REC Rehabilitation Clinic and Indian Trail Animal Hospital
  • Determine which common foods and products are toxic to your pets
  • Examine X-rays and discuss animal surgery and procedures
  • Practice and learn about common veterinary tools and equipment
  • Veterinary craft
  • Carolina Wildlife Rescue presentation with animal visitors

Middle School and High School

  • Learn about and practice safe interaction with dogs and cats
  • Have hands-on experience with an animal guest
  • Receive a behind-the-scenes tour of Vet-REC Rehabilitation Clinic and Indian Trail Animal Hospital
  • First aid activity
  • Solve the mystery case with microscope work
  • Animal careers discussion
  • Practice and learn about common veterinary tools and equipment
  • Carolina Wildlife Rescue presentation with animal visitors

Our Camp Director - Rachel Tate:

Rachel grew up in Matthews NC and began working at Indian Trail Animal Hospital at the age of sixteen. She started as a Patient Care Assistant and has advanced her career by becoming a Veterinary Assistant and ITAH Vet Camp Director. Her passion for animals has led her to pursue a degree in Biology at North Carolina State University where she is a junior.  After graduation, Rachel intends to apply to veterinary school and continue to work with animals.


Our Camp Founder - Dr. Cierra Tabony:

Our camp founder of Vet Camp and owner of Indian Trail Animal Hospital and Vet-REC: Veterinary Rehabilitation and Exercise Clinic. She has over 20 years of experience in veterinary medicine, over 10 years experience with vet camp, and two kids - ages 14 and 16.    She enjoys speaking at career fairs and school groups, getting the next generation excited about animal careers and animal care!
